SHADOW | WALL

This concept is a result of Foster's close connection to Kaikoura's marine environment, a global biodiversity hotspot for marine wildlife. As an avid surfer and diver, Foster has always held sharks in high regard. The title Shadow alludes to the plight of these magnificent creatures. With the rate of decline, these works may one day be all that remain, long after sharks themselves have gone extinct. Hence, the last ‘Shadow’.

The wall mounted version of Shadow provides a different perspective of this work, and enables the viewer to appreciate this sculpture from varying viewpoints. The work also casts angular shadows on the surrounding wall surface, creating further intrigue and interaction.
