SHADOW

Shadow’s angular surface echoes that of the rugged Seaward Kaikoura mountains with their triangular peaks and snow filled basins.

This concept came about through Foster's close connection to Kaikoura's marine environment, a global biodiversity hotspot for marine wildlife. As an avid surfer and diver, Foster has always held sharks in high regard. The title Shadow alludes to the plight of these magnificent creatures. With the rate of decline, these works may one day be all that remain, long after sharks themselves have gone extinct. Hence, the last ‘Shadow’.
