Foster’s interpretation of place leads him to focus on creatures that are plucked straight from the local ecology, citing both indigenous species and domestic animals.

Works like Golden Boy mirror the dramatic forms of the mountains with their rugged fractioned ice fields and contrasting shadowing rocks.

This particular piece is a cultural homage to the family dog, incongruously realised in bold geometric form. Here Foster has captured in cool metal, the postural adoration of humankind’s most loyal companion. Golden Boy is simultaneously endearing and daringly contemporary.
