FIGURE 152

In his figurative works, Foster references idealistic representations of man, much like in classical Greek culture. Foster’s contemporary works are a modern reference to this classic period in sculpture.

Foster’s latest sculpture is meticulously finished in mirror polished marine grade stainless steel, and continues to investigate the human form.

Through the representation of the abstracted form, conceptually this work explores reflection, as well as introspection. The reflective surface blurs the line between what is manmade and natural. The use of mirror polished stainless in this embodiment, encourages the viewer to see themselves as an integral component of the work, with the faceted surfaces of this highly detailed form reflecting oneself and the surrounding environment.

Foster’s pared back approach to title, refers to a minimal intent and references the fact that the work is made up of 152 facets.
